FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

This section includes the questions most frequently asked about our rental services.

Help us to make this section as comprehensive as possible by using our information request form.

What is the minimum age for renting a car?

For cars: 21 years of age with valid category B licence, issued at least 1 year ago.
For motorbikes: 18 years of age with valid category A licence, issued at least 1 year ago.
For those aged 24 and below, a supplement of €10.00 per day is applicable.

Which licence do I need?

For cars, a valid category B licence, issued at least 1 year ago.
For motorbikes, a valid category A licence, issued at least 1 year ago.

Is the person named on the rental agreement required to inform the branch of the name of the driver?

Yes. On collecting the vehicle, the licence of the actual driver must be shown.

Can the vehicle be driven by someone other than the stated driver?

Yes, subject to payment of a supplement of €6.00 per day. The person named on the rental agreement is, in any case, required to inform the branch from which the vehicle is being collected of the names of any other individuals who may drive the car.

How much does the car rental service cost?

The cost varies depending on the type of vehicle chosen, the insurance cover, the specification of the vehicle and the duration of the rental.

Can the final price end up being different from the quoted price?

The initial cost envisages services that, by their nature, may be subject to change; for example, the re-fuelling of the vehicle, the returning of the vehicle to a different branch, the mileage covered, unless otherwise indicated, etc.

Is insurance cover provided?

The rental fees include the third-party liability cover required by law (called “Responsabilità Civile Automobilistico verso Terzi – RCA” in Italian), fire and theft cover (Theft Protection – TP), and cover for damage to the vehicle caused by the driver (Collission Damage Waiver – CDW).

Is there any excess?

Yes. There are excesses on thefts and damages, the level of which depends on the vehicle rented. For vehicles not in the special groups, it is, however, possible to limit or eliminate the excesses by taking out specific insurance cover packages (GOLD and PLATINUM).

When and how do you pay the rental charge?

The calculation of the actual rental cost and the associated payment are carried out when the vehicle is collected.
Visa, MasterCard or American Express are accepted.

Where can the vehicle be rented?

A supplement from €15.00 to € 50.00 applies to the area outwith the city limits but within the municipality in which the branch is located.
The vehicle should be collected during the branches opening hours. For collections outside those opening hours, a supplement from €30.00 to € 150.00 is charged.

When should the vehicle be returned?

By the end of the period set out in the rental document. One rental day is deemed to be a single 24-hour period (starting from the time of delivery), with a tolerance of 59 minutes. Once said time has expired, an additional day’s rental charge will be applied.

Can the rental period be extended?

Yes, on condition that the vehicle is not double-booked and that the branch has been informed of your intention within 24 hours of the scheduled return of the vehicle as stated in the rental document, so that it can extend the insurance cover.

Does the vehicle have to have a full tank when it is returned?

Yes, otherwise you will be charged a €18.30 refuelling charge over and above the cost of the number of litres required to refill the tank.

What should I do if I am involved in an accident?

If you have an accident, you must inform the branch within 24 hours. The driver must fill out a European Accident Statement form (CID - Constatazione Amichevole di Incidente), in order to avoid having to pay the excess in the absence of proven liability.

Can I get a replacement vehicle?

If you need a replacement vehicle, we will provide you with one (depending on availability). At our irrevocable discretion, we may decide not to provide you with a replacement vehicle.

What should I do if I get a fine?

You are liable for any fines that you receive due to your driving. You must pay the fine immediately, or if you are unable to do so, you must inform the branch as soon as possible in order to avoid the additional charges envisaged for late payment. If requested by the forces of law and order, we are required to provide the name of the driver, who will receive the notification of the fine to be paid.

What should I do if I lose the keys?

You are responsible for the keys. If you lose them, from €280.00 to € 500.00 charge will be applied.

What should I do if I lose the car documents?

You are responsible for the documents supplied with the car. In the event of loss, a charge based on the model of vehicle rented will be applied.

Can I use the rental vehicle outside Sardinia?

Yes, but only once your request to do so has been authorised; in all cases, you must inform us of your intention to do so when you take possession of the vehicle.

When will I receive the invoice for the payment of the service?

Pursuant to the applicable legislation, the invoice is issued when payment for the rental is made, which is generally when the vehicle is collected; the invoice states the amount quoted for the rental. In the event that the final cost of the rental is higher than the quoted amount, the higher amount will be stated in the second invoice issued to cover the balance.

How can I get a written receipt for my booking?

At the end of the booking procedure, we will send you (to the e-mail address you specified when you registered) the booking voucher, which in any case you can also view and print in the customer area.

How should I configure my browser to make the most of your services?

The www.nolauto.it site is fully compatible with Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and Netscape 6.0 or higher, in the versions for the Windows and Apple Mac operating systems.
To get the most out of the site, the screen should have a resolution of 800x600 pixels and at least 65,000 colours.
